As the name indicate this travel scope features a 70mm aperture and also comes with two different eyepieces of 10mm and 20mm focal length. When combined with telescope’s focal length, eyepieces gives the magnification of 40x and 20x respectively.

Note: – To calculate the magnification just divide the Telescope’s focal length with Eyepiece focal length.

In addition to decent 2.76-inch aperture and two great eyepieces scope also features a fully coated glass optical elements which result in a clear, crisp and bright image.

Telescope also comes with a variety of additional features and accessories that are well suited for the purpose of this portable telescope. It comes with an easy to use alt azimuth mount which helps to easily point at the celestial objects. Telescope also comes with a preassembled tripod (it is a small size tripod that is best suited for sitting on top of the table) and a Sky X software that includes a 10,000 objects database, printable sky maps, and enhanced pictures. A great software for beginners to help them learn the basics of astronomy and how to use a telescope.

Pros and Cons to Using the Celestron 21035 70mm Travel Scope Telescope

Pros

Nice terrestrial view- Package includes an erect image telescope diagonal which corrects the view vertically. Because of this telescope can be used for both celestial as well as terrestrial viewing (same as binocular or spotting scope).

Portable- Weighing about 1.5kg it is one of the most portable telescope available today. Its weight fully justifies its name i.e. Travel Scope. Thanks to its weight and supplied backpack you can comfortably transport the telescope from one place to another on a short notice. You can also take it with yourself on your holidays.

Warranty- Celestron is providing a two-year warranty with this telescope. They will cover repair and replacement of any defective components.

Value for money- Considering the fact that this telescope costs only around 65 dollars, this is still a decent telescope. Given its size of aperture telescope still performs better and give a great view of the moon, nebulas, Jupiter and some stars (don’t expect full clarity and amazing details though). And a number of accessories Celestron is providing with this telescope make it a full value for money Telescope.

Cons

Tripod- Biggest drawback of Celestron 21035 70mm Travel Scope is its tripod. It is so lightweight that users found it difficult to make it stable while using it. Although it works perfectly on a flat surface but on an unpredictable terrain of the outdoors it struggles a lot.

Final Words

This concludes our Celestron 21035 70mm Travel Scope Review, Celestron has marketed this telescope as a Travel scope and it completely justifies its name. In our Opinion, in addition to being a great Travel/Portable scope, it is also a decent first telescope. With over 70% positive 4-star ratings on Amazon, it is one of the best entry-level telescope made for kids as well as beginners and especially for those who need to travel a lot.

That said, here is one satisfied owner take on this scope,

Amazing telescope. I have used a number of telescopes and this is one of the best based on flexibility, ease of use and performance. When mounted on a simple Eq. tracking mount I am getting better pictures than with my C925 that has been a significant source of disappointment. For this price, there is no better telescope in the market.
